Team Jam Project - Producer, System Designer, Programmer, et al

This top-down shooter was a part of a 3-day game jam, and was developed with 7 other colleagues; I took on the role of co-system designer, programmer, sound designer, and producer. 

Producer

Throughout the build, we found ways to recycle systems to make the gameplay experience polished and repayable. As we worked to keep the extremely tight deadline, we also found effective ways to split tasks even though we were all a bit unsure of what our skills at the time were.  I did my best to keep us on track, and ultimately the game ended up feeling great as a result.

Programmer & System Design

As one of the members of the team with more coding experience, I stepped into the role of system design and programming to help my team find quick solutions to problems we weren't sure how to tackle. I helped implement

  • Unity Events: I was the only person on the team familiar with how events worked. Because of this I set up a clean system that fired events to help signal that the ship was repaired.

  • UI/UX: I helped create the UI, sound, and feedback systems that signaled to the player that the ship was both being repaired, and when the repairs were done.

  • Source control: Due to the inexperience of some of our teammates, we ran into an critical issue with our main scene.  I was able to help cleanly resolve it due to my own experience with Github.
